Canada Nearby
Privacy policy
How Canada Nearby proposes to handle personal information under Canadian privacy law.
DRAFT FOR MANUAL LEGAL REVIEW — NOT LEGAL ADVICE. Last drafted October 2026.
Canada Nearby should collect only information reasonably needed for accounts, moderation, enquiries, abuse prevention and legal obligations. Providers choose their public profile fields. The final policy must identify the operator, purposes, consent, retention, safeguards, processors, cross-border handling and contact channel.
The privacy program should address PIPEDA's ten fair-information principles: accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use/disclosure/retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access and challenging compliance. Applicable provincial legislation may also govern. Identity must be verified before account information is disclosed or changed.
